Job title: Logistics Manager
Overview
The Logistics Manager plays a pivotal role in optimizing transportation solutions for both internal and external customers. Collaborating with multiple departments and clients, this role ensures the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods, import and export operations, and efficient logistics systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and resolve issues related to transportation, vendors, import and export, and logistics systems.
- Maintain detailed and accurate logistics data for reporting purposes, including usage metrics, issue resolutions, training records, work logs, and schedules.
- Collaborate with various departments to create comprehensive schedules for business processes such as sales appointments, shipping, and accounting tasks.
- Provide daily comprehensive logistical support for inbound and outbound shipments, oversee quality assurance, and verify safety procedures.
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to enhance efficiency, reduce unnecessary steps, and innovate solutions for logistical challenges.
- Analyze the financial impact of logistical processes and propose changes to maximize efficiency in routing, transportation modes, and resource utilization.
- Develop policies, safety procedures, risk management programs, and supply chain processes to increase logistical efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with company requirements, documentation, safety standards, and legal regulations across vendors, carriers, shipping, receiving, and other logistical areas.
- Audit and assist warehouse personnel with receiving and shipping operations.
- Audit and assist customer service personnel with accurate shipping procedures.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and experience with SAP system.
- Numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement preferred.
- Strong experience in managing and executing inventory processes and systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Diligence and strong organizational skills for managing information.
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on manufacturing experience, with a background in leadership or supervision, strongly preferred.
- Good product knowledge and a working knowledge of all facets of manufacturing operations.
- Flexibility to work special schedules as required to meet job requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on project assignments.
